The Impacts of Kudzu

Humans interacting with the environment to me means a detrimental relationship. When I hear humans interacting with the environment I think of cutting down trees, drilling for oil, and global warming.  That connects with this infographic because humans definitely interact with invasive species…BY KILLING IT!

The big idea for our infographic was to inform the public about the invasive species “Kudzu” and how they interact with out environment. The relationship between humans and Kudzu is detrimental and intended. The Kudzu invades our space and kills our plants and we kill it. The Kudzu isn’t just bad though. It can be used to make starch, baskets, fiber, and much more.

The infographic our group did is about invasive species. But not just all of invasive species it is about one kind of invasive species, the Kudzu.  Most people think of invasive species as being bad but they don’t have to be that bad, they can have uses too! Like the Kudzu. The Kudzu is used to make starch, enhance soil, make fiber and baskets, and even a way to treat alcohol cravings! The Kudzu is often referred to the “bane of the south”. One of the problems with people thinking that a invasive species is bad is right when they see it they kill it which could lead to it disappearing. Humans not only interact with their environment but the environment also interacts with us and our infographic was made to show that. The goal of our infographic was to show the pros and cons on Kudzu, where Kudzu is located (22% of the state in the USA!), and to properly inform the world about invasive species. I believe that our infographic did achieve this!
